Is beef gullet safe for dogs?
For most dogs, yes. Gullet is fully digestible, which is the main reason it's a safer pick than rawhide — rawhide is a chemically processed hide that can swell and cause blockages if a dog swallows a big piece. Gullet breaks down in the stomach the way any other meat does.
The usual chew-safety rules still apply. The American Kennel Club recommends supervising your dog with any chew and taking it away once it's small enough to swallow whole. VCA Animal Hospitals also notes that chews harder than a dog's teeth — real bones, antlers, hard nylon — are a common cause of fractured teeth. Gullet doesn't have that problem. It's on the softer end of the chew spectrum.
One caution: gullet is rich. If your dog has a sensitive stomach or has never had it before, start with a small piece and see how it settles.

That's the honest tradeoff for the softer texture — if you want a longer-lasting session, a bully stick is the better tool. Gullet is a treat and a dental helper, not an hour of occupancy.
How much gullet can a dog have?
Treats and chews should stay at roughly 10 percent of your dog's daily calories — that's the standard guidance from most veterinary nutrition sources. In practice, one gullet chew a day is fine for most adult dogs. For puppies or small breeds, half a piece is plenty to start.
Always give chews with fresh water nearby and on a surface you don't mind wiping down.
Gullet vs. other natural chews
